Halloween should be a fun experience for every child, and an upcoming event in Strathroy is helping make that possible.
Accessible Halloween returns to the Shops on Sydenham the week before Halloween, giving children and families who face barriers to traditional trick-or-treating a chance to enjoy the holiday in a welcoming setting.
Dana Parsons, CEO of Wright Rehab, told myFM how the event first started.
Wright Rehab became involved four years ago.
This year, 27 vendors will be on hand to offer treats, including non-food options such as toys, colouring books and other small items. Vendors also decorate their tables and dress up to help create a festive atmosphere.
Parsons says the event is important because not every child can take part in traditional door-to-door trick-or-treating.
The event is free to attend, but registration is required.
Visitors can also take a break in a quiet space if they need some time away from the activity. A professional photographer will offer free family photos with a backdrop provided by Forest of Flowers, and a balloon artist will be walking around during the event.
Accessible Halloween will take place outdoors in the parking lot at the Shops on Sydenham, rain or shine.
Families can register through the events section of the Wright Rehab website or by searching for Accessible Halloween in Strathroy on Eventbrite.
