A new tribute honouring Canada’s Veterans has been completed in Strathroy, with the timing coinciding with the 100th anniversary of the Royal Canadian Legion and the upcoming Remembrance Day commemorations.
The Strathroy Veterans Crosswalk is now complete, providing a lasting reminder of the men and women who have served, and continue to serve, Canada.
The project was made possible through the contributions and support of several community members and organizations, including Strathroy-Caradoc Mayor Colin Grantham, Strathroy-Caradoc Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Donna Pammer, and Rob and Trina Heubach of Crystal Clear Bags Canada.
Organizers say the crosswalk represents more than just a pedestrian crossing, serving as a symbol of service, sacrifice, courage and remembrance.
An official opening ceremony is expected to take place, with Veterans being given the honour of being the first to cross.
Details about the unveiling ceremony are expected to be announced in the coming days, and myFM will be on location.
