A social media post sparked lots of community action and Cara Campbell from the WRRC couldn’t be happier. Last week a Facebook photo circulated showing the bare shelves for Women’s Rural Resource Centre’s Community Cupboard program, but they weren’t empty long.
The WRRC Communications Manager says residents stepped up and now they have lots to offer women who use their services.
The cupboard is a year-round service assisting local women who are dealing with food insecurity. Campbell says they take essentially any type of food people are willing to donate and that includes perishable items. Things like milk, eggs, cheese and bread are constantly in high demand so they’re always looking for items like that from those who wish to donate, as well as feminine hygiene products and shampoos. You can drop off items from 9 to 5 at the WRRC at 145 Beech St Strathroy Monday to Friday.
