Maddie Simons (Dance Instructor Needham’s School of Dance)
Maddie Simons has been an instructor at Needham’s School of Dance in Strathroy for four years but has assisted in classes since she was 11. Over that time she says she enjoys being able to help students with dance or life. Simons wants to make a positive impact on someone’s life. She teaches jazz, tap, ballet and lyrical, with a preference to teach in tap because it’s also her favourite one to dance. Only being 18 herself, Simons says finding a balance with friendship and instructing has been a challenge with some of her older students. She’s taught students from ages 4 to 15. She said overcoming her first year as an instructor while also still being a dancer was a difficult road but it’s something she pointed to as a point of pride later on.
