
A 35-year-old Strathroy man is charged with Fraud Over $5000 after an incident with a local car dealership. On December 23rd, 2019, Strathroy Caradoc Police were contacted by a local automotive dealership that they were victims of a fraud. The Criminal Investigation Division started an investigation and found that a man had purchased two vehicles, using a trade of two vehicles which he had owned. The vehicles owned by the man still had money owing on them and this was added to the purchase price of the new vehicles. No payment for the vehicles was ever made. The local dealership attempted to find the vehicles, through investigation it was revealed that the vehicles were sold to a dealership in London. The man was now in possession of two new vehicles purchased using the vehicles obtained fraudulently in Strathroy-Caradoc. The local dealership was defrauded of $138,663.00. On February 24th, 2020, Police arrested 35-year-old Andrew Wilson of Strathroy-Caradoc. Wilson was charged with Fraud over $5000 (X2) and Obtaining by False Pretense over $5000 (X2). As a result of the investigation, both vehicles purchased fraudulently were seized. Wilson will appear in London Court in April to answer to the charges.
