It’s that time of year for Fire Chief Brian George and the Strathroy-Caradoc Fire Department to review the fire stats of 2020. Last year was the worst ever year for fire loss for the department. George reported that while the number of fires was down, the fire loss statistics went through the roof. He says in 2020 there was over $9 million in fire loss. However, the people stayed safe, as George continued to say the trend of eliminating deaths in the region continued this past year.
While today’s homes and buildings are constructed well, the materials with which they’re built burn faster and hotter, but George is confident the community is in good hands.
