
Unfortunate circumstances have occurred with one local business in Strathroy’s north end. myFM received an official statement from Catalent that because of the significant global reduction in demand for cold and flu treatments, which is likely the result of measures taken around the world to avoid transmission of the coronavirus, anticipated production levels at their Strathroy and Windsor sites have forced the company to adjust staffing levels. The statement went on to say that following a detailed review and after implementing various mitigating actions in an effort to avoid layoffs, Catalent has announced that it will lay off a total of approximately 95 employees. myFM did confirm that this decision affected 36 hourly and 4 salaried staff at the Strathroy location.

Catalent has notified union representatives at its Windsor and Strathroy, Ontario, facilities that because of the significant global reduction in demand for cold and flu treatments, which is likely the result of measures taken around the world to avoid transmission of the coronavirus such as increased social distancing, travel restrictions and respiratory hygiene, anticipated production levels at the sites have forced the company to adjust staffing levels.
Following a detailed review and after implementing various mitigating actions in an effort to avoid layoffs, Catalent has announced that it will lay off a total of approximately 95 employees.
