No pun intended based on the current pandemic, but Strathroy’s Kenwick Mall is about the get a serious shot in the arm, or in this case a solid dose of revitalization. Some more Strathroy downtown revitalization is coming down the pipe, not through any type of official plan or procedure but through new ownership of a long standing facility in the core. As of June 1st, Jamie and Sue Looman of JASLO Properties are the new owners of Kenwick mall purchased under the name Front Street Revival. Currently the mall houses about 15% capacity with Food Basics, The Duke, Health Unit and Children’s Aid Society but Jamie says they want to bring the spark back into the downtown fixture that’s been pretty stagnant for years.
According to Jamie, that means filling the mall back up.
They are also looking at a potential name change and Sue and Jamie want your help with that.
The Loomans will be making many changes to the facility but the focus is on filling it up with tenants and with financial agreements that fit all parties involved, especially the future tenants. If you’d like to participate in a naming contest, you can submit what you think the mall should be called, and tell the loomans what you’d like to see in there by visiting strathroytoday.ca.
