Local singer songwriter Katie Parker has teamed up with her best friend Delaney Brooklyn from St. Mary’s and have turned to the art of music to share their feelings on various topics of life. Their song October Tenth was released on May 21st, and Parker says that a friend group falling out was the inspiration for the song.
Parker grew up in Strathroy, and from an early age loved music. She first took lessons at a local music school, which allowed her to continue on her own.
The two had not worked together in vocals prior to this song, with Brooklyn having released a solo album and single in 2018. Brooklyn says that the writing of October Tenth was easy, it was the vocals that was an experience.
Though they did not explain the event that took place, Brooklyn explained that to this day, not everyone that was a part of it is in their lives.
The two girls met only a week before the event happened but the situation which prompted the song and their love of music is what brought them together. Right now, they are working on a 5 song EP together, as well as both continuing to work on their own music. ‘October Tenth’ can be streamed on any music platform including spotify, apple music and amazon.
