The government of Canada is looking to expand rail service to Southwestern Ontario, and are exploring opportunities to enhance passenger services.
The government is taking the first steps to expand these services by looking how passenger services can be improved to the west of Toronto, in London, Windsor and Brantford. They are working with VIA Rail and the Canada Infrastructure Bank to ensure that any changes can be effectively integrated with the core route for High Frequency Rail in the Toronto and Quebec City Corridor.
The Government of Canada will be reaching out to the Province of Ontario for collaboration on the project, and to avoid any duplication with the provincial plans including new services with Go Transit and Metrolinx.
