With the school year ongoing including extra curricular sports, some confusion on COVID regulations and rules continue on different levels. Why can a student ride the bus, have recess, participate in class including physical education classes and eat lunch with other students but when it comes to staying after school to play sports, the Thames Valley District School Board says if they are not double vaccinated, they cannot participate. Cribbs says there’s a difference between in-school classes and after school activities.
Cribbs says the Board is taking a cautious approach to the school year. She says in consultation with the health unit, the Board is being intentionally thoughtful in the mixing of co-horts to limit risk and making sure the schools remain open for in-person learning.
