Mount Brydges resident Kyle Farquharson is the 2021 Hugh Mitchell – Western Fair 4-H Endowment Fund Scholarship winner. The scholarship is awarded to a current or former member of 4-H from Middlesex County, between the ages of 17 and 21. The member must demonstrate the 4-H pledge: I Pledge my Head to clear thinking, my Heart to greater loyalty, my Hands to larger service, my Health to better living, for my community, my country and my world. Farquharson has been a part of the group for many years, and says it has taught him a great deal about being a leader, something that he has taken to his time at Guelph University where he is pursing an Honours Bachelor in Agricultural Science.
Farquharson says that the $2,500 he received from the scholarship will be going towards his final semester at Guelph. Once he graduates, he says he plans to run his own farm and cash crop operation.
