myFM ran a story last week letting you know that the Township of Warwick had lifted its state of emergency along with the Township of Adelaide Metcalfe which lifted theirs back in the summer. Why has Strathroy-Caradoc not lifted theirs. myFM addressed this with the Mayor last week, and on Monday of this week it was brought up again in council to which Mayor Joanne Vanderheyden spoke to the issue.
CAO Fred Tranquilli also commented highlighting a lifting of the Declaration could send the wrong message to the community.
Tranquilli also added one of the reasons the Declaration of Emergency was adopted was to make sure any volunteers and others who were doing work on behalf of the municipality would be protected in case of injury. Also there is potentially more COVID funding in place for municipalities that remain under the declaration and we should find out where that sits in the next couple of months.
