Strathroy-Caradoc Council has added to its roster of By-Law Enforcement Officers. Since the employment of a full-time by-law enforcement officer in 2018, by-law enforcement activities and incidents according to a Council report have increased significantly, from 154 in 2017 to over 500 by the end of 2021. Until this past Monday, Director of Building and Planning Jennifer Huff says all by-laws were enforced by one individual, creating gaps in enforcement activities while the one individual was for example on vacation, sick or in training.
On Monday, Staff proposed to designate, as an interim measure, two of the building inspection staff as enforcement officers to provide additional support, until a more permanent solution was in place. Council approved the designation of Connor McEachen and Shane Hughes as By-law Enforcement Officers to provide additional interim support.
