Another scam is making its way through the region this time it’s a texting scam. Earlier this month a victim was contacted via a text message from what appeared to be a reputable bank, advising of an issue. A link was provided and when the victim clicked it the link took them to a website that looked legitimate. The scammers transferred nearly $3000 out of the victims account when they logged in using their banking information. Police say to never share personal information including name, birthday, address, phone number, SIN number or banking information unless you can verify you are talking to an actual business.
