More manufacturing coming to Strathroy. On Friday, Monte McNaughton, MPP for Lambton-Kent-Middlesex, announced the establishment of a new steel manufacturing facility for metal-building in Strathroy. As part of the project, MetalCor Building Systems will be investing more than $2.5 million to create 32 well-paying manufacturing jobs in the area. McNaughton said “I want to thank MetalCor for their commitment to this mission, bringing more than 30 rewarding, well-paying jobs back to our community.”
MetalCor currently sources several steel components for its business from American suppliers. The new manufacturing facility will allow MetalCor to build the steel components right here in Ontario, keeping more investment and jobs in the community while boosting productivity and sales.
“With the support of the provincial government, MetalCor is launching a state-of-the-art manufacturing facility for our innovative line of metal products,” said Nicole Fuca, Co-Owner of Metalcor. “This investment will create many new jobs in the Strathroy area as we manufacture steel components that ship across Canada. We thank the government for their support in helping us grow our business and strengthen the community.”
The government’s contribution of $384,000 to the project is part of the Regional Development Program. Under the program, businesses and municipalities can get financial support along with a range of complementary services, skills and training supports, and information on tax credits.
Ontario is investing more than $100 million through the Regional Development Program from 2019 to 2023 to support distinct regional priorities and challenges and boost the province’s economic recovery. The program provides cost-shared funding to businesses, municipalities and economic development organizations to help local communities attract investment, diversify their economies, and create good, local jobs.
