The replacing of the roof at Tri-Township arena in Mount Brydges is moving forward following council approving to allocate $21,845 as the municipality’s contribution towards the roof repair and council also approved the repair to Bullock Roofing for a value of $79,900 plus HST.
In November the Tri-Township Board Chair sent a letter to both the Chippewa of the Thames First Nation and Strathroy-Caradoc Council indicating that the roof was leaking and the Board planned to apply to the Trillium Foundation for approximately $60,000 to support the repair. The Arena Operating Agreement between Strathroy-Caradoc and Chippewas of the Thames allocates the cost sharing on a split of 85% -15% with majority to Strathroy-Caradoc.
Five bids were received for the project, ranging from a low of $90,287 to a high of $198,320.65 including HST. The TTA Board met on March 10, 2022 and have accepted and approved Bullock Roofing. The partner’s shares will be Strathroy-Caradoc for $21,845 and Chippewas of the Thames First Nation for $3,855, both amounts do not include HST.
The Tri-Township Arena Board filed an application to the Ontario Trillium Foundation to help cover the costs of repairing the roof. They were granted $54,200 as part of the Trillium fund
for this project. The updated pricing came in at $79,900 +HST which was a new estimate exceeding the previous estimate by $19,900. The Board then requested the arena partners provide Capital funding to cover the outstanding amount of the project.
