Each year, Seasons Retirement communities in Ontario and Alberta come together to make a positive impact in our communities. Between July 4th and 15th, Seasons Strathroy hosted their annual One Can Make a Difference company-wide challenge and was recognized as one of the top donors to collect the most canned and non-perishable food items for their local food bank. This year, Seasons Retirement Communities across Canada raised more than 5,500 cans in addition to donating a combined total of $42,000 to Food Banks Canada. Strathroy collected a total of 659 cans.
“As residents of the Strathroy community, we are committed to working with Ailsa Craig and Area Food Bank to address the prevalent problem of food insecurity among older adults,” says Patricia Rastin, general manager at Seasons Retirement Communities in Strathroy. “The Seasons’ One Can Corporate Challenge reinforces our goal to uplift the communities our residents and team members call home and do our part to address hunger.”
The top Seasons Retirement Communities donors were Seasons Clarington with 1287 cans, Seasons Brantford with 931 cans and Seasons Dufferin Centre with 516 cans. Notably, all the top finalists also had the largest increase in collections in comparison to last year’s challenge.
Since 2016, Seasons Retirement Communities has partnered with Food Banks Canada for its corporate giving initiatives. To date, Seasons has donated more than $222,000 in funds and food to local food banks. Seasons is proud to do its part to support local communities, especially during this time of great need.
