New election wards could be coming to the province. The Federal Electoral Boundaries Commission for Ontario has proposed several new changes throughout the province including here locally, and Lambton-Kent-Middlesex would be no more.
The communities of Lambton Shores, North Middlesex, Lucan Biddulph, and Kettle, and Stony Point First Nation, would join a new riding called South Huron Shore.
Closer to home, Strathroy, Brooke-Alvinston, Adelaide-Metcalfe, Southwest Middlesex, and Middlesex Centre would join a new riding called Elgin-Middlesex-Thames.
The new riding would also include: : Aylmer, Bayham, Dutton/Dunwich, West Elgin, Central Elgin, some of Chatham-Kent, some of Thames Centre, Malahide and Warwick, some of Dawn-Euphemia, the Township of Southwold, some of the Township of Zorra, and Newbury.
The new riding would also include the First Nation communities: Chippewa of the Thames, Moravian, Munsee-Delaware Nation, and Oneida.
All this will take effect if they survive 17 public consultation meetings which will run from September 26 and October 29th.
