Break and Enters seem to be happening on a more daily basis in Middlesex and Elgin counties. The OPP and Elgin Middlesex Community Street Crime Unit want to warn dealerships and car garages to take extra precautions to protect their vehicles and keys. On August 8th, multiple vehicles were stolen from dealerships and shops in Thames Centre, Central Elgin and Alymer. These incidents follow the same pattern. A suspect goes to a shop or dealership in a stolen car, they break into said place and steal other vehicle keys. They then return later and take more vehicles, and the vehicles have unattached plates or stolen plates. The suspects are believed to have used stolen vehicles in the commission of a series of commercial break-and-enter incidents in Middlesex, Elgin and Perth Counties, in addition to occurrences in London, Aylmer and Waterloo Region.
