Did you know that less than half of the age of majority of Municipalities votes during Municipal Elections. That’s according to Fred Tranquilli, CAO for Strathroy-Caradoc who says unless a big issue is present, not many people show up.
There are 21 candidates for 9 seats in Strathroy-Caradoc, and almost 60% of those candidates have never ran for municipal council before. When asked if the reason for that may be a disatisfaction in current council by residents, Tranquilli says the reason is more often than not because there are 3 vacant seats for sure this year as 3 current councillors will not be running.
Councilors Cowan and Flegel from Ward 2 and Baker in Ward 1 will be retiring.
