Strathroy-Caradoc has taken the servicing agreement between them and Adelaide-Metcalfe to court.
Soon to be acclaimed Mayor of Adelaide Metcalfe Susan Clarke, said in a statement that there is a motion before the courts to prevent connecting Adelaide Metcalfe’s Centre Road business corridor with services from Strathroy-Caradoc’s water and sewer.
The point of disagreement between the neighbouring governments is how much the bill for the services should be.
A number of incumbent candidates running for Strathroy-Caradoc council said that it was Adelaide Metcalfe that was holding up the process, which is why they said the servicing agreement is in front of the Ontario Land Tribunal.
Clarke says Adelaide-Metcalfe tried to sit down with Strathroy-Caradoc a number of times, but nothing has happened. Adelaide-Metcalfe says they are trying to solve the issue with Strathroy-Caradoc and prevent the agreement from going to the Ontario Land Tribunal.
Strathroy-Caradoc Councilors also said that Adelaide-Metcalfe has not raised their taxes to pay for the increased cost of Centre Road.
The current servicing agreement between the two municipalities is heading to the Ontario Land Tribunal, but no date has been set.
