A few hundred of CUPE’s 55,000 education workers have taken to the downtown streets of Strathroy including the office of Lambton-Kent-Middlesex MPP Monte McNaughton to voice and display their displeasure with the Ontario Government. myFM talked to Educational Assistant with London District Catholic School Board and Strike Captain Ken O’ Donnell who says they are receiving much support.
O’Donnell was asked what he would say to families who do not support this action and just want their kids in school. He says he feels their concerns.
At the time of the interview Friday morning, Lambton-Kent-Middlesex MPP Monte McNaughton was not at his constinuency office and the group was hoping to at some point talk with him. Strathroy-Caradoc Police Chief Mark Campbell sent a statement to myFM saying “we will continue to monitor situations involving protesters in our community to ensure we balance their rights to protest and not engage in civil disobedience that effects community members. Our Service proactively reached out to CUPE and local businesses sharing our response plan regarding lawful protests.”
