Middlesex OPP had an eventful Christmas weekend.
On December 23rd, Middlesex OPP and the Strathroy-Caradoc Police Service were called to the Middlesex County OPP Detachment on Centre Road in Strathroy.
A person at the detachment began damaging the lobby, a 55 year old from Adelaide Metcalfe was charged with Mischief under $5000.
The accused has been released from police custody and is scheduled to appear in Ontario Court at a future date.
Two incidents happened over in North Middlesex. Also on the 23rd, Middlesex OPP were called to Richmond Street, north of McGillivray Drive in North Middlesex for a two vehicle collision.
The investigation showed the pick up truck involved was reported stolen earlier in the day.
A 37-year-old from no fixed address was charged with possession of property obtained by crime over $5000, dangerous operation, operation while prohibited under the Criminal Code, driving while under suspension and possession of a schedule 1 substance – Methamphetamine. The accused was held for bail and no injuries were reported.
On the 26th, Middlesex County OPP were called to an Ailsa Craig address for an assault. A 17-year-old was charged with assault with a weapon, assault and assault to a Peace Officer. No injuries were reported. The accused has been released from police custody and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice at a future date to speak to the charges. The youth’s identity is protected under the Youth Criminal Justice Act (YCJA).
On Christmas Day, members of the Chippewas of the Thames First Nation Police Service along with Middlesex County OPP were called in the early morning hours for a vehicle that was in a ditch on Bodkin Road in Oneida of the Thames First Nation.
The lone occupant of the vehicle was placed under arrest without incident. The vehicle the occupant was driving was reported stolen from London. a 63-year-old from Oneida Nation of the Thames First Nation was charged with operation while impaired, high blood alcohol content, possession of property over $5000 and driving while under suspension.
