Nurses week is May 6th to the 12th, and this years theme is “Our Nurses Our Future”. Julie McBrien, President and CEO of the Middlesex Hospital Alliance which consists of Four Counties in Newbury and the Strathroy Middlesex General Hospital, tells myFM this week is all about appreciating nurses.
The Middlesex Hospital Alliance is planning on doing a Barbecue , raffles, 50/50’s and more activities to show their appreciation. Interim VP of Clinical Services and Chief Nursing Officer with the Alliance Krista Shea, says the activities will also celebrate all Health Care workers.
McBrien says we need to celebrate Nurses every week, not just this week.
Shae says the past three years have been a challenge for the two Hospitals and they have learned a lot. Between a PPE shortage, social distancing and more, our nurses have been stretched thin.
There are still protocols in place at the Middlesex Hospital Alliance, including masking in clinical areas. However, more protocols will be loosening up like visitor restrictions.
