Each June, communities across Ontario celebrate June as Recreation and Parks Month where it’s recognized by municipalities, community organizations, and schools as a way of promoting the benefits of being active and recognizing the contribution that recreation and parks make to quality of life. Access to park and recreation is a fundamental human need that helps foster personal health, strong communities, and social inclusion. Warwick Township has partnered with the Watford / Warwick Horticultural Society in continuing to provide parks and the downtown district of Watford with planter boxes & hanging baskets, creating wonderful gardens and in completing many improvements to park amenities. Also, in celebrating the month, staff have created the Parks and Recreation “Snapshot” Challenge.
Snap Shot Challenge is inviting the community to visit pre-determined park spaces, provided each week through social media, and take a Snapshot showing how they currently use the park space and send that photo to the Parks and Recreation Department and/or hashtag the Township of Warwick in Snapshot posts shared on social media.
