A special notice today for travellers in our area. On Tuesday, November 7th, a significant oversized load will be in transit through Middlesex, making its way from Sarnia to London. To facilitate this movement, the OPP will implement rolling road closures on Egremont Drive, both preceding and following the load. Given the substantial size of the load, it will occupy most of the road.
Additionally, Hydro One will have a presence on-site to raise and disconnect any power lines that might otherwise disrupt electricity supply to local residents in the vicinity. Hydro One has already communicated with affected residents regarding the expected power outage. Egremont Drive sections will remain closed for the majority of the day, so it is advisable to avoid this route if possible. If you must use Egremont Drive, please exercise caution and adhere to the instructions provided by OPP officers.
Further details regarding the closure: can be found on our website.
Outage Information:
On November 7, nearly 100 Hydro One personnel will work diligently and safely to disconnect and then reconnect power for customers along an 86-kilometer route, commencing from Sarnia Harbour. This effort is in support of a third party transporting a large vessel.
Hydro One collaborated closely with the third party to establish the route, with the goal of minimizing disruptions to its customers and the power grid. We acknowledge the inconvenience of power outages and appreciate our customers’ patience.
When: The work will take place on Tuesday, November 7, between 7 a.m. and 11 p.m. Due to the unique nature of this transportation, there are 14 individual planned outages. The exact start and end times of these outages are estimates, varying based on customer locations and the speed of the vessel’s travel.
Where: Approximately 1,460 customers residing near the following roads may experience power outages as the vessel progresses along its route:
Mandaumin Road (26), bounded by Confederation Line (25) and London Line (22)
London Line (22), bounded by Mandaumin Road (26) and Digby Street
Egremont Road (22), bounded by Digby Street and Denfield Road
Why:
To ensure the safe and dependable provision of power to the communities we serve, Hydro One supports third parties in the transportation of large vessels to prevent interference or contact with our local power grid. The expenses associated with facilitating such large-scale movements are covered by the third party.
