Residents impacted by August’s rainfall in Watford can now seek municipal aid for sewer backup issues. The Sump Pump Disconnect and Backwater Installation Grant Program provides up to $3,000 for installing valves or disconnecting pumps.
Mayor Todd Case anticipates a surge in applications, aiming to alleviate repair costs. Applications will be evaluated individually, prioritizing high-risk areas. This grant is distinct from the DRAO funding. The Township is awaiting the province’s response; approval means more aid for eligible residents. A public announcement will follow the province’s decision.
Applications will be accepted for installations of backwater valves and/or sump pump
disconnects dating back to August 23, 2023.
