After about 18 months, the doors on the newly renovated Southwest Middlesex Recreation Centre in Glencoe were opened to the public on Saturday. It was the first real upgrade to various areas in 50 years including the building now being fully accessible including washrooms, an elevator and front entrance ramp. Mayor Allan Mayhew says a lot of work was done.
Mayhew says upgrades were also done in technology including new audio visual equipment throughout the building and upgrades in the food preparation area as well.
The project also received about $2 million in Federal and Provincial government grants.
