There could be a direct corolation between the recent success of Mount Brydges’ Easton Cowan and the success of his team the London Knights. In his past 12 games, Cowan has netted 10 goals and tallied 32 points during an impressive 15-game point streak, contributing significantly to the Knights’ success by ensuring they’ve secured at least one point in 17 consecutive matchups.
As we know, the past seven months have been a whirlwind for Cowan, from the NHL draft to preseason with the Toronto Maple Leafs and representing Canada at the World Junior Championship, resulting in extended periods away from home. Rick Steadman, the Knights’ forwards coach, noted the transformation, saying, “Since returning from the World Juniors, Easton has exhibited a completely different mindset.”
Cowan reminisced about standout moments, including scoring in an exhibition game at Scotiabank Arena against Ottawa, which left a lasting impression on him. With his family’s unwavering support, demonstrated through their presence at games and watch parties hosted by friends, Cowan feels the love, especially now that he’s back in London and fully settled.
Despite the whirlwind of experiences, Cowan’s performance with the Knights hasn’t faltered. With one-third of the OHL season remaining, he’s elevated his game, focusing on relentless pursuit of the puck and a comprehensive playing style, which has translated into success, including being ranked second in the league for shorthanded goals.
