The Ontario government is investing $272,165 in a new employment action centre to assist 116 manufacturing workers affected by the Cooper-Standard plant closure. Minister David Piccini stated that the goal is to support workers in Glencoe by providing training, literacy, financial education, and mental health support.
The Cooper-Standard Action Centre, in collaboration with Unifor National and Unifor Local 27, will also host a job fair to connect employers and workers. This initiative aims to help workers explore new opportunities, secure better jobs, and improve their livelihoods. Cooper-Standard and Unifor Local 27 will also be investing $57,000 in the action centre, and it will operate until at least December of this year.
