Here is a quick snapshot of what’s happening around town in the next 48 hours.
DKMB Minor Baseball registration is open now until February 29th. They offer opportunities for kids ages 4 and up including blastball, hardball and girls fastball. New this year- girls fastball teams are now starting at U9. Register online at dkmb.ca by February 29 to avoid a late fee.
If you are looking to be a part of this years Home, Garden a Leisure Show hosted by 105.7 myFM and presented by Sutton Wolf Realty we are still looking for vendors to join the show. You can fill out a form to get a booth here.
A reminder that Thursday (February 29th) is a property tax due date. There are a number of ways to make payment, including: in person at the Municipal Office, pre-authorized Payment Plans, with options for automatic withdrawals on the last day of each month OR automatic withdrawals on quarterly installment due dates, online via Virtual City Hall, after-hours drop box located at the front entrance (cheques only), telephone and internet banking, in person at your financial institution. If you have not yet received your property tax bill, please contact the Financial Services team at 519-245-1070.
At the Middlesex County Library in Parkhill there will be a Free drop-in program for families with children 0-6 years old from 9am-11am today. Each Play & Learn program will offer a play-based learning opportunity in one of the indoor library program spaces. Activities planned by EarlyON facilitators encourage positive parent and child interaction and inspire play and learning!
Also today in Parkhill, there will be a Baby Time Program. This is a free drop-in program for families with children 0-12 months old. Siblings are welcome, but please note they will not be supplying materials/toys. They offer circle time (songs & stories) as part of the program.
At the Glencoe library today, there will be an Afterschool Club! Children can drop in after school for snacks and STEAM-centric activities, art, challenges and more! from 4:00pm – 5:00pm! For ages 8-13.
Also today at the Strathroy Library from 6:30pm – 7:30pm there will be a Knitting and Crochet Circle. This event is a chance to meet, knit and crochet in a social setting. Drop in with your current project and share your expertise or learn a new skill.
Join the VON SMART Exercise program today from 9:30am-10:30am. This is a free program for people aged 55 and older or for adults living with a disability. For more information about the program call 519-659-2273 ext. 22267.
There will be a Chili Dinner drive-thru on Saturday, March 2nd. All proceeds from the Chili Dinner Drive-Thru will go towards the NEW bouldering wall planned for spring 2024 & other program initiatives at Camp Kee-Mo-Kee. Tomorrow, from 5:30-7:00 p.m, there will be a Kids Multi-Sport program is drop-in that introduces participants to new sports and skills each week.
If you are interested in playing Volleyball, tomorrow is your chance. Join Southwest Middlesex and Forest City Sport and Social Club for 6 weeks of recreational, for-fun court volleyball. This is a co-ed league for ages 19 and up. Sign up as a team, as an individual, or with friends! The Strathroy Rockets are in action tonight night as the travel to LaSalle to take on the Vipers. Puck drop is set for 7pm at the Vollmer Culture R.C.
The Komoka Kings are also in action tonight as they travel to Sarnia to take on the Sarnia Legionnaires at the Pat Stapleton Arena. Puck drop is set for 7:10pm.
Tomorrow the North Middlesex Stars are on the road to take on Petrolia. Puck drop is set for 7:30pm.
If you feel you have what it takes to play with the Strathroy Rockets, fill out a Prospect Form on their website as they are looking for new players to join them on the ice next season.
