Some notable names including Lambton-Kent-Middlesex MP Lianne Rood, MPP Steve Pinsonneault, Minister of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs Lisa Thompson and more visited Parkhill Wednesday to witness the groundbreaking of the expansion of local business Parkhill Meats, under the new name Premyum.
Established in 2016, Parkhill Meats continues the legacy of Les’ Country Meats, offering local butchering services for over 45 years. Founded by Yaser AlQayem, who left a managerial career at London Life to venture into the meat industry, the business has grown significantly in just seven years, and he told myFM all about the expansion that is planned.
Looking to the future, Parkhill Meats is planning to have the expansion completed by January 2025. This expansion will likely require an additional 20 employees, including butchers, packagers, logistics handlers, and cleaners, further cementing its role as a significant local employer.
AlQayem is also deeply connected to the community through partnerships such as the local 4H Club, from which Parkhill Meats purchases livestock raised by students. This engagement not only supports the local youth but also reinforces the company’s commitment to community involvement.
Minister Thompson had the chance to share her thoughts during the groundbreaking and showed her complete support for the project.
Since its inception, Parkhill Meats has flourished under AlQayem’s leadership. The business now serves wholesale customers in cities as far away as Windsor, London, Hamilton, Mississauga, Burlington, and Brampton. With the new expansion, Parkhill meats will be able to ship their product to a wider area, including internationally, which Thompson says is a huge deal for the community.
As Parkhill Meats continues to grow, it remains dedicated to providing quality products and fostering a sense of community, staying true to the values that have driven its success from the start. You can find more details about Parkhill Meats at https://premyum.ca.
