
Following a successful inaugural program in 2023, Fanshawe College’s Corporate Training Solutions (CTS) is launching two more Automotive Service Technician (310S) pre-apprentice programs for 2024. These programs aim to support individuals from underrepresented communities in starting their careers in the automotive sector. CTS is actively seeking partnerships with local employers to provide work placement opportunities for participants throughout the fall and winter, offering foundational 310S level 1 skill training and pathways to apprenticeships and long-term employment.
Employer partnerships are crucial for the program’s success, offering participants the chance to apply their skills under experienced technicians and supervisors. CTS provides a wage subsidy of up to $250 per week per participant to offset training costs. “We encourage all employers in the automotive service sector to consider hosting our participants,” says Heather Carey, Senior Manager of CTS. “It’s a win-win where participants gain hands-on experience, and employers help shape skilled workers.”
