Strathroy-Caradoc Council has awarded the Backstop Replacement project to Simpson Fence of London for a total of $60,512.59 plus HST. This replacement at Yorkview Community Park marks the first step in relocating the hardball diamond from Alexandra Park to the Bantam Diamond at Yorkview. As part of the project, modifications will be made to the diamond in Alexandra Park to support slow pitch, fastball, and minor baseball, ensuring ongoing play at that location.
The overall budget for the diamond transition project is $275,000. Of this, $125,000 has been provided by the Jays Care Foundation. The $60,512.59 for the backstop replacement will come from the approved 2024 Capital Budget, which also totals $275,000.
