The St. Clair Region Conservation Authority (SCRCA) has made significant upgrades to modernize its work environment. With a $30,500 investment from the Government of Canada’s Community Services Recovery Fund, SCRCA has improved its network and server systems, installed a new phone system, and implemented Cyber Awareness training. These upgrades enhance the organization’s ability to provide essential services, including flood protection, water quality improvement, and habitat conservation.
Chris Durand, GIS/IT Manager at SCRCA, highlighted the importance of these improvements for staff availability and secure communication in a hybrid work setting. The upgrades ensure staff can access resources remotely and stay connected from any location.
Cyber Awareness training also helps protect sensitive information by teaching employees to identify fraudulent emails. The investment is part of a larger $400 million fund aimed at helping community service organizations adapt and modernize. The Sarnia Community Foundation supported SCRCA during the project’s implementation.
