Lianne Rood, Member of Parliament for Lambton-Kent-Middlesex, released the following statement in regard to prorogation and the Prime Minister’s resignation.
“Conservatives have been calling for Justin Trudeau to resign and give Canadians a carbon tax election to elect a Pierre Poilievre government that will fix what he broke. Instead, Justin Trudeau has prorogued parliament until March 24th, and announced he will keep power until the Liberal Party chooses a new leader.
I have stood in parliament and named over 68 Liberal scandals involving Trudeau and the Liberal party since 2015, this makes one more. Canadians will not be fooled. They know well at this point that whoever the Liberals choose to lead them, the corruption and incompetence will remain.
The Liberals and their NDP allies have destroyed the trust of Canadians. Collapsing parliament and cynically thinking a fresh face will make the people of Canada forget how, with the support of the NDP, a Liberal led Canada has created more crime, chaos, and corruption, helps no-one but themselves.
Canadians deserve better. They deserve an election now, not having to wait and suffer from further NDP-Liberal incompetence over the coming months. Cost is up, crime is up, time is up, only a Conservative government can restore faith in our nation’s politics. Only a Conservative government will axe the tax, build the homes, fix the budget, and stop the crime.”
