Strathroy-Caradoc Police are investigating after a Strathroy man was defrauded out of over $50,000. Bernie Blockeel contacted myFM to share his story to help protect others, and he says it all started with a phone call from his bank.
Luckily, Bernie’s bank was able to recoup about $30,000, but he’s out the rest as Strathroy Police continue to investigate. He says part of the loss was from credit card fraud, but the bank told him the rest involved Facebook Marketplace.
Police are still investigating but Bernie’s not holding out much hope he’ll see that money again. He hopes if others hear his story, they’ll be more careful with online transactions.
