The Coldest Night of the Year walk in Strathroy was a great success this year, with 174 walkers raising well over 85-thousand dollars. The funds will be going to 37 Frank Youth Centre, which helps youth in the community with everything from homework to homelessness. Centre Director Dave Berdan chatted with myFM at the walk Saturday night.
Berdan says community is KEY at the Centre.
In a speech before the walk, Berdan shared the sad story of some youth coming into the centre, who have been close to taking their own lives.
34 Teams took part in the Coldest Night of the Year walk this year, with the top fundraising team being United for 1 raising over 9-thousand dollars. Huge thanks to EVERY TEAM that took part…and those who DONATED.
Also a big thanks to Dominos Pizza and Starbucks for providing pizza and coffee and wonderful volunteers for the event. Next week, we’ll tell you how busy the crash beds at 37 Franks have been this winter….AND how they COULD be expanding in the future!
