Community Living Sarnia-Lambton have launched their annual Summer Employment Transition Program. The seven-week program implements those aged 16 to 29 with a disability or barrier to employment into a local workplace. Manager of Community Employment Options Laura Stokely says their efforts have spread far from just Sarnia-Lambton and have even crossed the ocean.
Stokley said over 50 organizations in Ontario have adopted the program model as well. The program matches students with a job coach and they then go to the designated workplace. Stokley says they found just enough employers for their 53 students this year, but they’re always looking for jobs for the year-round model. The summer program started up July 8th and runs until August 23rd.
