The Peterborough Jr A Lakers found their groove at home last night, downing the Oakville Buzz 9-5 to earn their first win of 2025.
After falling behind 3-2, the Lakers turned the game around with a flurry of second-period goals, including two on the power play, outscoring the Buzz 5-2 in the middle frame. Carson Christy’s goal with just over four minutes left in the period stood as the game winner.

Curtis Ward led the way with a five point night, scoring three of his four goals during a dominant stretch in the middle frame. Nate Sage added a pair of goals, while Shognosh earned his first career win in his first Jr A start, making 43 saves.
Also scoring for Peterborough were Riley Simpson (1g 1a) and Hayden Addison (1g 3a), with assists going to Christy, Sage, Reed Chamberlain, Dylan Lee, Colby Wood, Mason Cree, Wyatt Wiggins and Nick Fournier, who had two.
The Lakers are back in action tomorrow night in St. Catharines before returning to the Memorial Centre on Friday to host the Six Nations Arrows at 8pm.
