The City of Peterborough is reminding residents to plan ahead for their next property tax payment as a labour dispute at Canada Post may cause mail delays.
The next interim tax installment is due May 30. To avoid late penalties, the city is encouraging residents to use one of several alternate payment options.
Cheque payments can be dropped off at the secure drop box outside City Hall at 500 George Street North, available 24/7. Payments can also be made through online or telephone banking using the 15-digit roll number as the account number, or in person at a financial institution.
Residents may also pay by cash, cheque, or debit at Service Peterborough, located inside City Hall, during regular business hours from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm.
Credit card payments are accepted online through third-party providers like PaySimply or Plastiq, though additional fees apply. The City Hall Tax Office does not accept credit card payments directly.
