The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is taking new steps to help find missing children by teaming up with the Missing Children Society of Canada (MCSC). In honour of Missing Children’s Month and International Missing Children’s Day, the OPP announced that it is now using a new tool called “rescu” to support search efforts.
When a child goes missing in an OPP area, and certain safety concerns are present, details about the case can be shared through “rescu.” Alerts are sent only to people in the nearby search area. These alerts are used for the most serious cases, such as children with safety risks due to mental health issues, drug or alcohol addiction, neurocognitive conditions, or those at risk of serious harm.
