This week, Strathroy-Caradoc Council approved an Asphalt Resurfacing Tender for Steve Smith Construction Corporation, valued at $596,957.50 plus HST, to carry out resurfacing work on Drury Lane and Railroad Street.
In February, Council instructed staff to move forward with tendering for the resurfacing in Strathroy of Drury Lane (from Saulsbury Street to Pannell Lane) and in Mount Brydges on Railroad Street (from Juliana Drive to Adelaide Road).
The 2025 Capital Budget had set aside $400,000 for asphalt resurfacing, but the full tender award will exceed the budget by $238,937.50 plus HST. This additional cost includes engineering services and geotechnical testing. The budget overrun is due to extra scope identified during detailed site evaluations, which were not anticipated when the budget was initially set.
