Peterborough Musicfest is back for its 38th season, bringing free summer concerts to Del Crary Park and continuing its legacy as Canada’s longest-running free admission music festival.
As July begins, Musicfest is set to roll out a packed schedule of high-profile acts, new on-site features and a genre-spanning lineup.
This year’s festival also brings a few new additions to the park. The Future Sound Series presented by Cogeco will showcase emerging local artists on a second stage near the food vendors, starting at 6 pm before the main acts take over the Fred Anderson stage at 8 pm. Food vendors are also offering “happy hour” specials between 5 and 6 pm, giving music lovers even more reason to come early.
With some big acts scheduled to hit the stage this summer, Marketing and Communications Manager Raff Melito says the July 1st performance from Neon Nostalgic will set the tone nicely.
Although they play hits from around the world, Melito says the band will be throwing in some Canadian classics as well
As for the rest of the summer, Melito says music lovers can expect a little bit of everything, from country, to pop and rock, adding that there’s even a full week dedicated to Irish music this year.
With community spirit at its core and music echoing from the lakeside stage, Peterborough Musicfest is set to once again be the soundtrack of the summer.
