With Canada Day around the corner, OPP are sharing important safety reminders to help keep everyone safe as celebrations begin across the region. Constable Craig Soldan, the OPP’s Community Engagement and Media Relations Officer, says police are preparing for what’s expected to be one of the busiest weekends of the summer.
With more people traveling, visiting cottages, and enjoying events, Constable Soldan is reminding everyone to plan ahead.
He also emphasized the importance of being aware of other road users, including motorcycles, bicycles, e-bikes, and scooters, as well as children who may be out enjoying the summer break.
In addition to road safety, police are also highlighting the need for caution around water and trails, especially with the rise in outdoor activity during the warmer months.
The OPP’s message heading into the Canada Day holiday is clear.
Whether you’re driving, lighting fireworks, or enjoying the water, take extra care so you and your loved ones can enjoy the long weekend and return home safely.
