A state-of-the-art LED video board will soon be installed at the Gemini Sportsplex Blue Pad, thanks to a unique partnership between the Municipality of Strathroy-Caradoc, the Strathroy Jets, and local sponsor Ricco Foods. The project is also receiving $10,000 in Progress Through Partnership (PTP) funding, reinforcing the Municipality’s commitment to modernizing public facilities through community collaboration.
The idea originated in fall 2024, when the Strathroy Jets approached the Community Services Department with interest in installing a large digital screen to enhance the game-day atmosphere and generate advertising revenue. After securing Ricco Foods as a sponsor, the Jets revisited the project in spring 2025, and began shaping a formal proposal.
In June 2025, the team presented plans for a 16’5” by 9’10” high-resolution LED video board. The new screen will serve multiple purposes:
- Enhancing live game experiences with replays and visuals
- Offering digital advertising space for local businesses
- Promoting community events and minor sports programming
- Improving accessibility and compliance with AODA guidelines
Beyond the benefits for the Jets, the board will be available for use by a range of community groups and sports teams—making it a shared asset for all arena users.
Financial Overview:
Total Project Cost: $61,500 (includes purchase, installation, and warranty)
Content Software & Services: Approx. $10,000
Municipal Contribution: $10,000 from the PTP program; hydro and operational costs covered within the existing Community Services budget
No additional staffing or operational burden is expected
The LED board is expected to generate more revenue than traditional rink board advertising and reduce staff time spent managing sponsorships.
With a 100-day lead time for delivery, installation is expected later this year. This initiative is a win for the Municipality, the Jets, Ricco Foods, and the broader community—delivering upgraded technology, improved experiences, and new partnership-driven possibilities.
The Jets will now work hand in hand with the municipality to formalize a revenue sharing agreement to be approved by council with a planned timeline of early August.
