It’s Fire Prevention Week, which began Sunday and runs until Saturday.
That’s Strathroy-Caradoc Fire Prevention Officer, Jayson Chabot. He tells myFM people need to be very careful with lithium ion batteries.
Chabot says fire officials are very concerned about the number of fires they’re seeing from these batteries.
The batteries are commonly found in e-bikes and scooters, smartphones, laptops and many other electronic devices. When used correctly, they’re generally safe. But modifying or tampering with these batteries can be dangerous. Chabot says they’re taking their message out into the community this week.
