Police are investigating a fatal single-vehicle crash involving a school bus on Highway 401 in London, Ontario. Around 9:40 a.m., emergency crews from the Middlesex OPP, London Police, paramedics, and fire services responded to the westbound lanes of Highway 401, just west of Veterans Memorial Parkway. The bus, carrying 42 secondary school students, left the roadway and crashed. Four passengers were taken to hospital with minor injuries. Tragically, the 52-year-old driver from the Waterloo Region was pronounced dead at the scene.
To support students and families, an Emergency Operations Centre was set up at the East Lions Community Centre for reunification. The Middlesex OPP, along with the OPP West Region Traffic Incident Management and Enforcement Team, continues to investigate the cause of the crash.
