With food insecurity and food bank usage continuing to rise across the province, United Food and Commercial Workers (UFCW) Locals 175 & 633 are once again donating $180,000 to food banks and charitable organizations this holiday season on behalf of their 70,000 members.
This month they will be making donations to 60 area food banks and organizations in communities across the province including in Stratford, St. Thomas, Strathroy, London, and others.
Food bank demand continues to surge. In March 2025, nearly 2.2 million people visited food banks across Canada—setting yet another record. According to HungerCount, food bank use in the province has more than doubled over the past six years.
Throughout December, UFCW Locals 175 & 633 will continue distributing funds to support organizations providing essential services to communities across Ontario.
UFCW Locals 175 & 633 represent more than 70,000 union members working in a wide range of sectors, including retail grocery, pharmacy, industrial operations, food processing and manufacturing, health care, hospitality, and many others.
